It has always been part of The Doghouse mission to engage as part of Banff and the broader Bow Valley community. The goal is for our visitors to see beyond Banff as just a tourist town and more for what we know it to be – a small community with plenty of local four legged flavour!

Since our opening in 2017 we have solidified our community engagement through our Paw It Forward initiatives that support the Bow Valley and Alberta community.

We love to engage our community and visitors by showcasing some of the amazing dogs and the adventures they go on in Bow Valley. The Doggy in the Window contest encourages people to send in images of their BFF (Best Furry Friend) enjoying an outdoor adventure in the Bow Valley. The winner of the photo contest becomes our front window poster. Penny is our most recent Doggy in the Window winner and shares here spotlight with three very special Runner Pups 🐾

We partner with a variety of organizations and local companies to support the amazing work of Alberta Rescue organizations in Alberta through events, promotions, fostering and donations. Some of the organizations we have been privileged to support include:

STAY Pawsitive Banff Dog House and Bow Valley SPCA

After two successful fosters and adoptions through Heaven Can Wait Animal Rescue, Arthur has now became a foster fail and resides in Banff with the store owners. Arthur enjoys the Calgary Flames and his paws off role as CEO (Canine Entertainment Officer).

When the pandemic and closures hit Banff, we knew we had to find a way to support people and their pets in our community.  We reached out to our suppliers who generously provided bags of much needed dog and cat food supplies. We continue to support and respond as needed.

In 2021 the Town of Banff instituted a pedestrian zone for two blocks of Banff Avenue to foster a more open environment for visitors and to increase traffic to local businesses.  While we had the opportunity to utilize this space for retail, we have used our space the past two years to support a Hot Dog Zone that provides shade, water, cooling beds and water spritzers for any hot dog (and their owners) on the Avenue. We loved the Zone and by all accounts so did our four leggeds!

Since our opening we also continue to support organizations within the Bow Valley with donation requests as appropriate.
